About Author

Michael Visger was born in Rockford, IL in 1970. After living in Rochester, NY, and Kingsport, TN, he moved to Knoxville, TN where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and in Sociology/Criminal Justice.

The Anti-12 Steps were created in 1996 as a lecture on understanding the process towards addiction and the need for a way to break through adolescent's resistance to the concepts of AA/NA and recovery.

Michael is a dual degreed counselor who has served as the director of IQ Counseling and the Anti-12 Steps Education Programs. He has worked for the past 15 years in the fields of counseling, addiction education, and adolescent issues related to the 12 Step process.

Michael is a Washington State Registered Counselor, and has over 7000 hours working with addicts and families to help them combat the effects of addiction. Michael is also a 2nd Degree Black Belt and has worked in various aspects of teaching and safety education for children and adults. The book "The Anti-12 Steps" is the first in a multi-subject series of written work being produced by Michael on topics including couples issues, sexuality education, and issues in treatment approaches.

Michael has served as the Associate Director for Safe Campuses Now with the Tennessee Chapter, and with other groups working on safety and education issues focused on improving community services and adult resources. Michael has worked for the Washington State Free and Clear Smoking Cessation Program while also running a small counseling practice in Tacoma, WA, where he has further brought the Anti-12 Steps to those in need and hoping for support other than that provided by the traditional 12 Steps method.
